This unique structure was created for the 2009 International Festival in Manchester. It is intended to be taken down and reassembled at other venues. The design incorporated acoustic panels to enhance performances. It was based on an organic shape and constantly changing cross-section and height in a light-weight frame covered in an elastic synthetic fabric. Armadillo worked with Tony Hogg Design and Base structures to realise Zaha Hedid Architects' vision on a tight deadline. We manufactured the light weight aluminium powder-coated frame.
